Skip Bags in Barking: what to know

Barking has Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the town centre, large estates such as Gascoigne and Thames View, and a growing number of new flats at Barking Riverside. Industrial land runs along River Road and the River Roding, and the Jenkins Lane reuse and recycling centre sits just off the A13.

Victorian Barking was built as continuous terraces of two-storey houses with bay windows, small front enclosures and back yards, a pattern still found near the town centre. The Becontree Estate extends into the east of the town. Thames View, built in 1954-60 south of the A13, has about 2,000 homes in terraces, flats and maisonettes around Bastable Avenue. Barking Riverside, on former power station land, has permission for 10,800 homes. Terraces without side access, and flats reached by stairs or lifts, make carrying distance and parking the main practical points when clearing a home.

The bag needs to be within about 4 metres of where the lorry can park, on your side of the wall. Much of Barking is in a controlled parking zone, so a skip on the road usually needs a parking bay suspended as well as the borough licence. Loading straight onto a waiting truck avoids both.

Because the bag sits on your own land, there's no licence from Barking and Dagenham Council to arrange. Tell us when it's full and we collect within five working days.

Typical Barking jobs. Flat clearances in the town centre blocks and at Barking Riverside; house and garden clearances on the terraced streets off Longbridge Road; commercial and trade waste from the River Road industrial area.

“Great friendly service from LM waste. They used a small iveco truck with hiab to remove 4 x 1 tonne bulk bags of soil and rubble from outside my house. The access road is unmade, narrow and unsuitable for the usual large skip/ grab lorry. I will be using them again. Thanks very much.”

“LM Waste management cleared my Mum’s garage which was full to bursting with all kinds of trash accumulated over decades. They turned up when they said they would, worked fast and efficiently, separated out the stuff she wanted to keep, filled a huge skip with the rest, cleaned up after themselves and put the good stuff neatly back on the well- swept floor of the empty garage. And came back for the broom when they saw they’d missed some sand that had fallen on the driveway. Great job. Very happy to recommend them.”

“Excellent service, called up about the removal of some building waste and they collected it the next day for a reasonable price. Hassle free experience, would recommend!”
