How we price demolition →Demolition in Halstead: what to know
Halstead is a former weaving town on the River Colne with a steep High Street, Victorian terraces near the centre and newer estates on the edges; Bluebridge Industrial Estate sits on the Colchester Road side. The town has no recycling centre of its own, and the nearest tip is in Braintree, roughly 10 miles away by road.
Recent house building in Halstead has clustered off Oak Road, where estates of 183 and 100 homes were approved side by side, and at Bournewood Park. Land east of the High Street, between The Centre and Factory Terrace, is allocated for comprehensive redevelopment. Within the Town Centre conservation area, designated in 1969, work on listed properties in Head Street and the High Street needs consent, and an appeal for 73 dwellings off St Andrews Road was dismissed with heritage among the main issues. Older terraces are commonly extended at the rear or converted in the loft.
Terraced streets with resident parking are routine: the truck stops in the road for a few minutes while it's loaded. Send photos of the structure and the access and we'll send a free estimate for demolition, loading and disposal. If the job turns out different on the day, with more to take down or harder access than described, we agree any change with you before we start.
Domestic outbuildings rarely need permission, but check with Braintree District Council if the building is listed, in a conservation area or attached to a neighbour's wall. Asbestos cement roofs are removed first by a licensed contractor.
