Stanhope Industrial Estate on Wharf Road contains workshops, yards and warehouse units, and to the south-east the London Gateway port and logistics park occupy the former Shell Haven refinery site. Between them these produce shop packaging and food waste, pallets, strapping, workshop offcuts and yard clearances.

Small vans and single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a council permit (6 visits a year, or 2 for a hired vehicle), trailers are only admitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and larger vehicles such as Ford Transits, Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and minibuses are not allowed in. Alternative: Linford is the only household waste site in Thurrock. Essex County Council centres such as Pitsea are restricted to residents of the Essex County Council area, so Thurrock households cannot use them.
