Wait & Load in Tiptree: what to know
Tiptree is a large village in the Colchester district, home of the Wilkin & Sons jam factory, made up mostly of post-war estates and bungalows off Church Road, Maldon Road and Kelvedon Road. It has no recycling centre of its own: the nearest are Colchester's at Shrub End and Witham's on Perry Road, each roughly 7 miles away.
New housing in Tiptree is concentrated on its edges. A 200-home scheme at Barbrook Lane was allowed on appeal, 130 homes were permitted off Kelvedon Road in 2022, and nine homes were later proposed at Highlands on Kelvedon Road. The neighbourhood plan is intended to guide around 400 further homes. Within the village, bungalows and detached houses on roads such as Newbridge Road and Oak Road lend themselves to extensions and loft conversions. Where a driveway is available a skip can stand off the road; parking on Church Road, the village centre, is limited.
Out on the lanes around Tiptree we send a truck that fits the farm tracks and village roads a skip lorry can't use. There is no skip left behind, so no skip permit to arrange. Tell us about any parking or loading restrictions so we can check where the truck will stop.

Wait & Load in Tiptree: your questions
What's the difference between wait and load and a skip in Tiptree?
A skip stays while waste builds up and, on the public road in Tiptree, needs a permit from Essex County Council. Wait and load is for waste ready to collect: you load the truck with our driver's help during the waiting time you book. No skip is left behind, but the truck needs a legal place to stop.
Who loads the truck on a wait and load in Tiptree?
You and your helpers, with our driver lending a hand. The truck waits up to 15 minutes for a quarter load and 60 for a full truck, so have the waste ready before it arrives. If you'd rather we did the lifting, book a man and van collection instead, priced per item, or ask for a free rubbish clearance estimate.
Can you do wait and load in Tiptree today?
Normally the next working day. Tiptree is a 35-minute run from our yard via the A130 and A12 to Kelvedon, then B1023, so we put Tiptree jobs onto a booked run and text you the arrival window.
