How we price demolition →Demolition in Laindon: what to know
Laindon is the western part of Basildon, built up first as plotlands and then as New Town estates such as Five Links, where houses are arranged around pedestrian courtyards rather than roads. The old shopping centre is being redeveloped as Laindon Place, and employment is concentrated at Southfields Business Park and the Ford technical centre at Dunton.
The main scheme is the rebuilding of Laindon town centre on the site of the 1960s shopping centre beside the High Road: 224 homes, from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses, with a supermarket, further shops and a medical centre. Earlier, the Five Links regeneration was planned to replace part of the courtyard estate with nearly 600 homes in three stages, and Dunton Fields was built in three phases. Where the original Five Links courtyards remain there is no road frontage, so a skip has to stand in a parking area, and deliveries need to allow for the walk in.
On Laindon's terraced streets there's rarely a drive, so the truck stops in the road, right by the front door. Send photos of the structure and the access and we'll send a free estimate for demolition, loading and disposal. If the job turns out different on the day, with more to take down or harder access than described, we agree any change with you before we start.
Domestic outbuildings rarely need permission, but check with Basildon Borough Council if the building is listed, in a conservation area or attached to a neighbour's wall. Asbestos cement roofs are removed first by a licensed contractor.
