How we price garden clearance →Garden waste collection in Loughton: what to know
Loughton is the most populous parish in the Epping Forest district, on the Central line, with Victorian and Edwardian houses on the hills around the High Road and the post-war Debden estate to the east. Trade and retail premises are concentrated along Langston Road and Oakwood Hill, and the nearest tip, at Chigwell, takes cars only and no DIY waste or rubble.
Loughton divides into distinct housing areas. The west side of the High Road was built up from about 1881, and the hilly streets of Little Cornwall, around York Hill, Staples Road and Baldwins Hill, form three conservation areas beside Epping Forest. The Roding Estate in the south dates from between the wars, and Debden is a London County Council estate of 1947 to 1952 with terraced houses and flats above the shops on The Broadway. Goldings Manor is a modern estate of detached houses. Upper-floor flats and steep forest-edge lanes mean more carrying than the detached plots.
For flats we carry everything down ourselves, and we check the lift, the stairs and where the truck can stop when you book. Rear gardens with no side access are normal for us; we barrow it through the house on sheets if we have to.
Chigwell Recycling Centre takes garden waste. Every car visit must be booked in advance (Blue Badge holders, pedestrians and cyclists are exempt). Cars only: vans, pick-ups and large trailers are not accepted, and the site does not take DIY waste or rubble. For anything bigger than a couple of bags, a collection from your Loughton garden is usually quicker.
