The main scheme is the rebuilding of Laindon town centre on the site of the 1960s shopping centre beside the High Road: 224 homes, from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses, with a supermarket, further shops and a medical centre. Earlier, the Five Links regeneration was planned to replace part of the courtyard estate with nearly 600 homes in three stages, and Dunton Fields was built in three phases. Where the original Five Links courtyards remain there is no road frontage, so a skip has to stand in a parking area, and deliveries need to allow for the walk in.
Access decides the method. Units on the trading estates get early or after-hours collections, so the yard and loading bays stay clear in working time.
